Hashimoto’s and Back Pain

by | Dec 1, 2022 | Podcast

Welcome to this week’s episode of Thyroid Strong, where I discuss why you may be experiencing low back pain with your Hashimoto’s and what you can do to take action today to eliminate pain sensitivity.

Key Takeaways

Low back pain is a common symptom among ladies with Hashimoto’s and there are a variety of reasons why you may be experiencing it. It starts with an under-active thyroid that contributes to joint pain and muscle aches. I have found clinically that Hashimoto’s can also go hand in hand with joint laxity but it originates within chronic inflammation. In today’s episode, I explain how everything is connected and what you can do to solve the problem today.

Hashimoto’s and Its Connection to Low Back Pain

An under-active thyroid can translate into aches and pains in the joints and muscles. There is also an element of chronic inflammation that can make your pain neurons more sensitive, which can lead to overall pain sensitivity. Another reason you may be experiencing low back pain could be due to joint laxity that extends throughout the entire body and contributes largely to excess lordosis or sway in the lumbar spine.

Solutions to Low Back Pain and Find the Root Cause of Chronic Inflammation

There are a variety of ways to help solve low back pain in Hashimoto’s. During your workout, I can teach you how to breathe and brace before picking up a weight, so you have the right form each time and can then pick up heavier weights on your journey to feeling better. Next, all day every day we want to look at posture and how we can improve our posture sitting at a computer or watching TV. After these adjustments in your lifestyle, the next thing to look into is the root cause of chronic inflammation. Tune in on today’s episode to find out if you are eating properly, if you are getting enough quality sleep, and what your exercise routine needs to look like to reduce chronic inflammation.
